The Chairman of the Commerce and Industry Chamber in Tobruk, Ibrahim Al-Jarari, has urged the Libyan Commerce Chamber and the Libyan Businesspersons Council to hold an emergency meeting over the seizing of Libyan ships by Tunisian Customs Department.

"Tunisian Customs Department's piracy against Libyan containers in Radis and Sfax must be discussed." Al-Jarari indicated.

He also urged Libyan businesspersons to boycott Tunisian commodities, disallowing Tunisian ships from entering Libyan ports as part of tit-for-tat treatment as long as the Libyan ships and containers remain in custody.

"I call on the head of the economy and investment committee in the House of Representatives to reconsider Libya's investments in Tunisia and I urge the businessperson and banks to abstain from opening letters of credits to import commodities from Tunisia." Al-Jarari remarked.

"A ship with containers has been seized for over two months after it passed through Tunisian waters (transit) and this seizure has caused harm to Libya's economy and the owners of the ship and commodities." He explained.
