The Education Ministry of the UN-proposed government has issued a new regulation that will apply to all Libyan students on scholarships overseas, obliging them to return and work in Libya after they have finished studies.

On Facebook, the Education Ministry said the decision came as a result of noticing that most of Libyans studying abroad abstaining from returning to Libya for work after graduation.

"Libyans on scholarships to study abroad must come back to Libya and work in their country." The decision reads.

The decision clarifies that if the students choose not to return to Libya after graduation, then they must return to the government the study fees, living stipends, insurance costs and all other payments made by the Libyan government.

"If students don't pay out all of those costs willingly, the Libyan government will file a lawsuit against them in Libyan and international courts." The decision adds.

The Education Ministry added that the latest date for receiving the approvals of the students on the new decision will be at the end of June 2017 and if students sent back their approvals after that date, their scholarship will be terminated starting July 2017.
