The German humanitarian organization Sea Watch has stated that they saved the lives of seventeen children, 311 men and twenty six women off the coast of Libya, adding that they have never rescued such a high number before. More than thirty boats had left Libya to sail towards Europe after the month of Ramadan.

The Spanish National Guard also released a statement to say that one of their ships saved 133 people who were on board a boat approximately 23 nautical miles from the coast of Libya.

The Italian Coast Guard also stated that more than 8,000 immigrants were rescued during the past 48 hours in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Libya.
