The US-based Legaler Aid Society has launched a donation campaign to collect $ 75,000 for funding efforts to prosecute Khalifa Haftar for committing war crimes in Libya and to pressure Washington to complete his trial procedures.

"Haftar continues to work in diplomatic circles with impunity, and this means that the greatest hope for his trial lies in the US courts, where Haftar is considered an American citizen," the nonprofit society explained.

It indicated that efforts to prosecute Haftar for crimes against humanity and war crimes are being led by national security and human rights attorney, Mark Zaid, with leading international human rights attorney Matthew Goree, in the US District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia.
