The Presidential Council of the UN proposed government denounced the siege on the city of Derna, which is causing what could become a humanitarian disaster due to a lack of medicines, medical supplies and foodstuffs.

The Spokesman of the Libyan Navy Ayoub Qassim said Sunday the Italian vessel, Comandante Borsini, left Tripoli Naval Base after five days of a working visit that saw Italian experts and technicians conducting a closeup assessment of the needs of Libya's naval vessels.

High Council of State issued a statement on Sunday welcoming the UN-proposed government's deal with Italy regarding the training of Libyan coastguards by Italian Naval Force expertise to back up Libya in combating illegal immigration. It said that the rejection voices of the agreement are politically driven and are trying to mislead the public as well as destabilize the recently recovering country.

Tobruk municipality's assistance committee urged the Interim Government's prime ministry to separate General Awqaf Authority Office of Tobruk from the main headquarters in Al-Bayda so that it becomes part of Tobruk's municipality. Meanwhile, easterners in Libya are complaining about the control of Salafists on Awqaf Authority and Fatwah House as well as the mosques in the region, issuing controversial fatwas like the recent anti-Ibadism one.

A delegation from Uganda arrived in Benina airport in Benghazi on Sunday to evaluate security conditions in the city before bringing medical staffers to Libya to cover the shortage of medics at the Benghazi Medical Center and other hospitals, sources from the city said. The delegation was received by the head of the committee for contracting foreign medical staffers Sad Al-Deen Al-Mismari and other officials.

Al-Jalaa hospital in Benghazi received 87 killed fighters and 235 injured ones from Haftar’s Dignity Operation forces due to clashes in Benghazi city in July, sources said, adding that some left the hospital, some went abroad for treatment and others are still under treatment. Haftar announced in July the full liberation of Benghazi despite continuation of clashes.

United Nations Deputy Special Representative and Deputy Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Maria do Valle Ribeiro, expressed concern over shortage of basic needs and medical supplies in Derna, east Libya. She also said that this could badly influence the health conditions of the residents, saying the UN is working with all the partners in humanitarian fields to meet up the needs of the residents in Derna.

Libyan coastguards rescued 110 immigrants from a dinghy off Tripoli shores and then sailed them back to the illegal immigration fighting center in Tripoli.

The second deputy of the High Council of State Mohammed Emazzib, called on the countries supporting Khalifa Haftar’s forces that are besieging Derna to stop providing him with weapons. He called on the UNSMIL and Arab countries Sunday to take a tough stand to deter the forces that claim to be legitimate from committing a massacre similar to that committed in Ganfouda, Benghazi.

HoR member, Abu Bakr Baira, said the meeting of western and southern MPs in Tripoli came due to the failure of the HoR, adding that Tripoli meetings were driven by divided visions for the members and the inability to hold meetings as per the internal system of the HoR. He added that the HoR must be more active and must be placed back on the track, especially in the current state of affairs by doing some modifications like changing the Speaker and reshuffling the committees.

Al-Ahli Benghazi General Assembly elected Khalid Al-Saiti as the chairman for the upcoming four years after he won over Nuri Belrahim on Saturday at Sulaiman Darrat hall in Benghazi sports city. He is to be the 21st chairman of Al-Ahli Benghazi.
