The National Safety Authority in Tripoli warned of the possibility of outbreaks of fires at power stations due to increased loads, which is leading to major failures and increased power cuts. Several fires have started in the last few days in Zawiyah Street station, Ben Ashour and Naser Street as a result of high loads and extra pressure on them. The authority requested that citizens of the capital Tripoli and those visiting to rationalize their energy consumption to avoid any future fires that might break out and cause damage to the grid or even worse, cause a fatality.

The head of the Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee, Milad Hajrisi, has stated that the latest fuel crisis in Tripoli is witnessing the beginning of a breakthrough as most of the capital's petrol stations have been filled with sufficient quantities to break the queues. The congestion that has built up should end in less than 24 hours. Hajrisi answered questions relating to the shortage of diesel supplies saying, “We addressed the National Oil Corporation to increase the quantities of diesel from 10,000 liters to 20,000 liters per day which will be allocated to each station to deal with the diesel fuel crisis”.

The head of Ubari General Hospital, Sulaiman Saleh, said that the hospital is suffering difficult working conditions as the fuel crisis is effecting the operation of the only generator which supplies the hospital. Saleh appealed to Brega Oil Marketing Company and the Sabha Oil Refinery to intervene and send the much needed diesel fuel. Saleh warned that a lack of power would mean that important services by the hospital like the dialysis department and laboratories could possibly shut down.

Libya's chess champion Yousif Hasadi has won the 22nd under fourteen, Alexandria International Youth Championship for the second time in a row. 270 players participated in the tournament coming from a mix of nationalities including Libya, Egypt and Sudan. Hasadi climbed the ranks towards his now placement of 1828 in the international rankings, up 33 points from his previous ranking. Hasadi has had good results in his previous competitions, including the Arab bronze in Tunisia and the Marsa Matrouh chess championship in 2016 and 2017.

Zawiya residents held demonstrations in the city’s main square and condemned the arrest of three Zawiyans, Mohammed Khadrawi, Mahmoud BinRajab and Hassan Azayat, arrested by Saudi Arabian authorities. The men were subsequently handed to the Interior Ministry of the eastern Libyan government of Abdullah Thini, who is detaining them in the eastern prison of Qurnada, known for countless human rights violations. The people of the Zawiya demanded that the Presidential Council of the UN proposed government to intervene urgently to return the detainees to their city and families.

The Ministry of Education has renewed cooperation agreements between the Ministry of Education and the Canadian International Education Office, designed to supervise Libyan students while studying in America and Canada. The agreements would also ensure that services provided to students are improved before they arrive and during their language studies to ensure a more accurate follow-up of their performance during their academic studies. The ministry said that the Canadian office will begin issuing financial support letters to students on Monday.

The Private Sector Department of the Ministry of Health has launched a campaign to target and inspect private buildings, health facilities, analytical labs, pharmacies and clinics in Tripoli. The campaign has already recorded a number of violations related to the cleanliness of some locations, the use of expired materials and poor general services. The campaign is set to continue for a second week in a row according to a media official for the Ministry of Health.

The Information Department of the General Electric Company in Libya (GECOL) published on their official Facebook page on Saturday some of their communications to those responsible for rejecting the process of electricity load sharing. Those responsible for disregarding orders made to the operators of the stations to disconnect electricity were also mentioned for not complying with the company's instructions. The Department of Information stated that there are areas that are not being subjected to electricity load sharing due to repeated attacks on the operators by armed men, and called on those responsible not to interfere in the work of the company and to comply with the program of load sharing for the general public’s interest.

In a statement issued Saturday, the Political Bloc of Misrata Representatives demanded from the Presidential Council and the Misrata Local Council speed up the implementation process of the reconciliation agreement between the cities of Tawergha and Misrata. The reparations of those involved was also mentioned and the start of the return of the people of Tawergha to their city is to start as soon as possible.
