Dignity Operation militia groups abducted Monday Derna-based Darnus FC player, Azhir Naas, shortly after the arrival of his team in Shahat town, about 81 km west of Derna, for a friendly match against Shabab Al-Jabal FC. The reason behind his abduction and his whereabouts are unknown. Meanwhile, the Association of Civil Society Organizations in Derna condemned the identity-based abduction of local residents by Dignity Operation, saying it has registered more than 50 cases of abduction and torture since January 2017.

Italian government offered additional million euros for the World Food Program of the UN to help provide food assistance for the people harmed by the current fighting in Libya. The World Food Program welcomed the step saying this is the second assistance offered by Italy for the program in Libya since 2016.

Civil society activists called for a demonstration on Friday to protest the deteriorated living conditions in Libya and the constant power outages. The organizers blamed the Presidential Council for the current troubles, as it did not abide by its promises regarding the cities rejecting load-shedding policies, leading to over 12 hours of outage every day. They added that its policies are failed and discriminatory.

The Head of the Youth and Sports General Authority of the UN-proposed government Ziyad Garira said they assigned 30 million dinars to support sports federations, calling for finding solutions to the issues troubling those federations, especially having no headquarters. He added that main headquarters in Saba, Tripoli will be the building hosting those federations with no headquarters.

Presidential Council member Ahmed Hamza, the head of haj committee, met Monday with committee members to discuss the final touches of this season to help facilitate the process for Libyan hajjis. They agreed to hold periodic meetings till the first flight takes off on August 15.

The CEO of Al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi Khalid Al-Hazwi urged the city’s Attorney General to open investigation with the people accused of financial and administrative corruption cases, asking him to form a committee to decide whether they are guilty or innocent, adding if they are not guilty, an investigation with the accusers must be opened.

Ayoub Qassim, the spokesman of the Libyan Navy, said the Libyan coastguards rescued 278 migrants including women and children off two cities western Tripoli shores. 128 migrants were saved off Al-Zawiya shores and 150 others were rescued off Sabratha shoes, he added. Two from Bangladesh and one from Egypt while the rest from sub-Saharan African countries.
