The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said it was greatly concerned about reports that civilians were injured and killed during armed clashes in Al-Zawiya on Sunday and Monday.

UNSMIL condemned in a statement on Twitter the use of heavy artillery in densely populated neighborhoods, reiterating calls for the unconditional protection of civilians and offering condolences to the victims and their families.

On Sunday and Monday, Al-Zawiya city saw heavy fighting that led to the killing of five civilians, including a child, and injuring of 13 others.
