Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteeq, has criticized the western countries which support Dignity Operation commander, Khalifa Haftar, warning of what he described Haftar's plans to reconstruct another dictatorship in Libya, which he considered impossible.

In an interview with the Italian daily La Repubblica, Maiteeq said that the attempt of what he described as a reshaping of a new Gaddafi in Libya was a sick dream and that there is no room in the country for a military rule in the future, stressing that the solution in Libya is political and not military.

He pointed out that Paris at the end will know the right choice, which will not be in supporting what he called “weak policies”. He denied any possibility of holding another meeting between Sirraj and Haftar in reference to what has been claimed over holding a meeting in Moscow.

Maiteeq also denounced the siege of Derna by Dignity Operation forces, likening it to "medieval siege".
