Libya to host first e-payment forum as CBL pushes digital finance

Libya’s Central Bank (CBL) has announced the launch of the country’s first Electronic Payment Forum and Exhibition, scheduled for 15–17 June at the Tripoli International Fair.

The event, backed by Central Bank governor and organized by the General Authority for Exhibitions, will bring together domestic and international payment companies as well as commercial banks operating in Libya.

According to officials, the forum aims to showcase cutting-edge digital payment technologies, encourage financial inclusion, and support the digital transformation of Libya’s banking sector.

Al-Ahly Tripoli wins title of Basketball Africa League (BAL)

Libya’s Al-Ahly Tripoli basketball team made history in African basketball by winning the Basketball Africa League (BAL) title after defeating Angola’s Petro de Luanda in an exciting final held on Saturday evening.

Al-Ahly finished the first half leading 43-38 after a strong performance in a game full of momentum shifts. The Angolan side started strongly, yet Al-Ahly took control to end the first quarter ahead 33-22, before Petro gradually reduced the gap in the second quarter.

Three Libyan travel agents participate in the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair in Indonesia

Three representatives from leading travel agents in Libya have participated in the Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) program and attended the 11th Bali & Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF), being held in Bali on 11–16 June 2025.

This activity was facilitated by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tripoli in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, as part of an effort to expand the Indonesian tourism market to Libya.

Libya reviews textbook supply amid corruption concerns

The Libyan authorities convened a high-level meeting in Tripoli on Wednesday to address delays and concerns surrounding the printing and delivery of school textbooks for the 2025–2026 academic year.

The meeting, chaired by the head of the Administrative Control Authority, Abdullah Qaderbouh, included the acting Minister of Education in the Government of National Unity, the Deputy Minister for Educational Affairs, and representatives from several related bodies.

Health Ministry distributes new batch of growth hormone for children

The Ministry of Health in the Government of National Unity confirmed on Monday the arrival of a new batch of growth hormone intended for the treatment of children suffering from growth disorders.

The ministry called on the parents of affected children to visit one of the accredited hospitals or health centers to obtain the medication.
