Libya, Tunisia agree to cooperate in protection of children, social programs for families

Libya and Tunisia exchanged discussions on joint programs and the state of bilateral cooperation in areas related to family, women, children, and the elderly.

The Minister of Social Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Wafaa Al-Kilani, paid an official visit to Tunisia on Thursday and Friday to discuss several shared issues with Tunisia’s Minister of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly, Asmaa Al-Jabri.

Turkish Trade Minister to visit Libya in February

The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Huweij, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Libya, Güven Begeç, to arrange a visit by the Turkish Minister of Trade to Libya, accompanied by a delegation of business representatives, during this February.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the meeting aimed to discuss strengthening economic and trade cooperation within the framework of long-term relations and partnership. It also included setting up a mechanism for the return of major Turkish companies to resume their operations in Libya.

Libya Cup returns after two-season hiatus

The Libyan Football Federation’s (LFF) Competition Committee has announced the return of the Libya Cup, marking the 24th edition of the tournament after a two-season break.

In a circular addressed to registered clubs, the committee confirmed that participation is mandatory for all 35 Premier League teams.

Meanwhile, clubs in the first, second, and third divisions have been given a three-day window to voluntarily confirm their involvement.

Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah joined a grand graduation ceremony at the University of Tripoli on Saturday, honoring the achievements of approximately 2,500 graduates from various faculties.

The event also saw the attendance of several senior officials, including Minister of Higher Education Omran Al-Qeeb, Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa, University President Khaled Aoun, faculty deans, and members of the teaching staff.

Dbeibah awards medics of Tripoli Eye Hospital

‎Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah honored on Saturday the medical, paramedical and administrative personnel at the Eye Hospital in Tripoli, in appreciation of the exceptional efforts they made during 2024.

Dbeibah hailed in a speech during a ceremony celebrating Tripoli Eye Hospital as one of the most prominent medical institutions in Libya what he described as the achievements made by the hospital, which included examining 200,000 patients and performing 12,000 surgeries in 2024.

The UN Security Council has approved the appointment of Ghanaian diplomat, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh as the UN Special Envoy to Libya. A long time passed behind the scenes of the Security Council before the dispute over who would succeed the former envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, was resolved between Russia on the one hand and America and Britain on the other.
