The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has expected volatile weather in the country's regions, especially eastern and southern regions, due to influence of desert depression, which is accompanied by active to strong winds from the southern sector, which speed may sometimes exceed 70 kilometers per hour, causing dust and sand to stir up and horizontal visibility to decrease as temperatures rise.


Central Bank starts measures to withdraw 50 dinars banknotes across Libya

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) announced the start of withdrawing the first and second prints of the 50 dinars banknotes from circulation on Sunday, saying that the last date for accepting the 50 banknotes in banks will be the end of the working hours on Thursday, August 29.

The CBL asked the banks operating in Libya and their branches to enable the public to present the banknotes and deposit them in their current accounts, as well as to organize the work in a way that facilitates deposit operations.


North Africa Classic Car Show

The first show for classic car owners in North Africa was held in Tripoli by Tripoli Classic Car Club, in the presence of the mayor of the central municipality of Tripoli, the ambassadors of Algeria and Mexico in Libya, and classic cars fans.

 More than 50 cars and motorcycles from Libya, Tunisia and Algeria participated in the show.


Public Prosecutor orders detention in warehouse arson case

The Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the detention of officials from an electrical works company and two guards, pending an investigation into charges of deliberately setting fire to the firm's warehouse in the Al-Karimia area of Tripoli.

According to the investigations, the fire was caused by a deliberate placement of flammable materials ignited by a heat source. Consequently, the blaze consumed a warehouse housing components and electrical equipment valued at 179,370,264 Libyan Dinars.


Minister of Education: I expect Libya to rank well in international index of educational quality

The Minister of Education of the Government of National Unity, Musa Al-Magarif, has expected that Libya would rank well in the international classification “Davos” for the quality of education.

Al-Magarif said, in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, that he understands the popular anger after Libya dropped out of the international classification in 2022, attributing this to the failure of those responsible for the Statistics Center at the International Forum to receive data and statistics of the educational process in Libya in a timely manner, and not for any other reason.


State of emergency declared in Kufra as displaced population brings disease outbreak

The Director of Kufra Teaching Hospital, Ismail Al-Ayda, has expressed concern about the spread of infectious diseases among displaced individuals arriving from Sudan to Kufra. He noted that the Ministry of Health has declared a state of emergency in response to this situation.

Al-Ayda described the health situation in the city as extremely critical, highlighting that a significant number of displaced individuals are suffering from infectious and potentially life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis, AIDS, viral hepatitis, malaria, and various skin conditions.
