UN envoy: Hate speech threatens Libya’s unity and stability

The UN’s top envoy to Libya has warned that hate speech is undermining peace efforts and poses a serious threat to national unity.

Hanna Tetteh, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, issued the warning on Wednesday to mark the International Day for Countering Hate Speech.

“In the context of political polarization and a fragile security situation, hate speech – especially when based on regional, tribal or ethnic lines – is a real threat to efforts to unify the country and achieve stability,” Tetteh said in a statement.

Libya and Turkey discuss boosting oil and gas cooperation

Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdel-Sadiq has held talks with Turkish Ambassador Güven Begeç on strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries.

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has officially announced that the championship round of the Libyan Premier League will be held in Milan, Italy, for the second consecutive year. The event is being sponsored by the Government of National Unity, in direct coordination with the Italian Football Federation and with support from the Italian government.

The LFF confirmed that it had started, in collaboration with Libyan governmental entities, completing the necessary administrative and technical arrangements to organize this major football event, which represents the decisive stage of the sports season.
