Libya calls for overhaul of international financial system, recovery of smuggled assets

Libya has called for significant reforms to the global financial system and economic governance mechanisms, emphasizing the need for more effective solutions to the global debt crisis and long-term financing for sustainable development. 

The remarks were made by Intisar Al-Tamzini, Libya's representative at the United Nations, during the General Assembly's Second Committee discussion.

Al-Tamzini also urged international cooperation in recovering Libyan funds that were smuggled abroad, with the goal of reinvesting them into vital service sectors.

‎There are conflicting reports about whether or not the match scheduled for Tuesday evening between the Libyan and Nigerian national teams in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco will be played. 

While the Nigerian Football Federation decided to withdraw the Nigerian team from the match and the Nigerian mission has already left Labraq Airport heading to Nigeria, media outlets reported statements by officials in the Nigerian Football Federation that the Nigerian team will return to Libya on the eve of the match and head directly to the stadium.

Libyan Attorney General's Office dismantles Nigerian organized crime network

The Libyan Attorney General's Office announced on Thursday the dismantling of a network of criminal gangs infiltrating from Nigeria to Libya to practice witchcraft and sorcery, organize illegal immigration, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and theft.
