Five Western countries urge Libyans to work with UNSMIL on the electoral path
Five major Western countries on Thursday called on Libyan actors to participate constructively with the Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdoulaye Bathily, to secure the necessary political, security, and legal environment for holding elections.
In a joint statement, the embassies of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States welcomed the statement issued by the UNSMIL on June 7 regarding the outputs of the 6 + 6 Committee, which concluded its sessions in Bouznika, Morocco.
Libya-Morocco Trade and Business Forum to be held in September
The Libyan-Moroccan Trade and Business Forum will be held from 11 to 14 September in Tangier, Morocco, with the purpose of promoting joint investments. The forum will be held in partnership with the Libyan Center for Export Development, with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Trade in Tripoli, and in cooperation with economy institutions in Morocco.
According to Moroccan media, the organization of this forum is part of a strategy aimed at strengthening Libyan-Moroccan relations among suppliers, exporters and chambers of commerce in free zones to be present in the Arab Maghreb and African markets.

Rare bird spotted in Libya for third time
A bird species that hadn’t been seen in Libya for nearly 15 years made a surprising return on May 14.
The Libyan Organization for Conservation of Nature confirmed this is the third time the Terek sandpiper has ever been spotted in Libya and the first in the Western region.
The previous records were both in the eastern parts of the country in 2008.
The species was spotted by the Organization's team while on a trip it conducted in coordination with the Misrata Environmental Affairs Monitor to the wetlands in Misrata.
Libya, Morocco sign 5-year long MoU on education
The Minister of Education of Government of National Unity, Musa al-Maqrif, has signed with Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sports in Morocco, Chakib Benmoussa, a memorandum of understanding and cooperation for a period of 5 years in the field of education, in order to strengthen relations between the two countries, according to an announcement by the Libyan Ministry of Education on Sunday.
The ministry reported that the MoU was signed on Friday, at the end of the 13th Conference of Arab Ministers of Education, which was hosted by Morocco on May 31.
Simulating Preparedness and Response to Polio Outbreak workshop takes place in Tripoli
The National Center for Disease Control launched on Sunday a workshop in cooperation with the World Health Organization at Al-Mahari Hotel in Tripoli. The workshop is titled "Simulating Preparedness and Response to an Outbreak of Polio" and it's held after the emergence of Polio cases in African countries, including neighboring countries: Chad and Niger. According to the center, Libya is completely free of Polio cases, underscoring the fact that efforts are being made to keep Polio out of Libya.
Potential shifts in the Libyan crisis
The war in Sudan will have serious repercussions on the Libyan crisis, far more than Sudan’s other neighboring countries. Political stability enjoyed by these countries will leverage security threats, and will further confuse the US strategy in Libya, which seeks to form a joint armed force from the conflicting powers, and achieve a political consensus, conducive to elections before the end of the year.
The Sudanese war could lead to a security situation overshadowing the political one, thus decreasing focus on the election file.
