Forest fire alert, Green Mountain residents urged to stay vigilant

The National Crisis Management Centre has issued safety guidelines for residents in the Green Mountain areas to follow in the event of forest fires, pending the arrival of firefighting teams.

On Wednesday, the Centre advised citizens to quickly extinguish initial sparks using water, soil, or a heavy tree trunk.

Citizens were urged to remain in the area after extinguishing the fire to ensure it does not reignite, report fires immediately and evacuate if the fire advances. The Crisis Management Center also advised against fleeing uphill or downhill in the direction of the wind.


Libya, Russia agree on boosting economic cooperation

The General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Libya signed with its Russian counterpart a joint agreement for cooperation in the economic field, as both agreed to strengthen bilateral relations.

This signing came during a meeting held in the Russian capital, Moscow, between the Chairman of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Libya, Mohammed Raied and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Badalko.


Al-Nasser, Al-Ahly Benghazi to CAF Champions League, Al-Ahly Tripoli, Al-Hilal to Confederation Cup

The fifth and final round of the Libyan Premier League concluded on Monday evening, after Al-Nasser won the 49th championship for the third time in its history.

Al-Ahly Benghazi came in second place after a 1-1 draw with Al-Ahly Tripoli, ensuring its participation in the CAF Champions League.

Al-Ahly Tripoli came third, and it will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup alongside Al-Hilal, which finished in fourth place after losing to Al-Nasser 0-1. 

Fifth place went to the Al-Sweihli, which defeated Al-Madina 4-2. Al-Madina came sixth.


Indonesia promotes tourism at Libyan conference

The Indonesian Embassy in Libya held a conference on Tuesday at the Andalus Hotel to promote Indonesia as a premier tourist destination. The event gathered representatives from companies, travel agencies, and media outlets.

GNU announces academic calendar for 2024-2025

The Ministry of Education in the Government of National Unity has announced (GNU) the start of the new academic year 2024-2025 for primary and secondary education on September 1.

The announcement follows Minister of Education Musa Al-Maqrif's Decision No. (984) for 2024, published by the ministry on its official Facebook page.

The ministry also released a letter from the Director General of the Educational Curriculum and Research Center, which includes detailed schedules for study and exams for all educational levels (primary and secondary) for the upcoming academic year.


GNU announces new support measures for muscular dystrophy patients

The Government of National Unity has unveiled new measures to assist patients with muscular dystrophy. Announced on Monday, the measures include providing and importing genetic laboratories for patients and their families, continuing gene testing, and urgent treatment for children under two years old.

This announcement came during a meeting between Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah and the Muscular Dystrophy Patients Organization, attended by Deputy Prime Minister/ Acting Health Minister Ramadan Abu Janah and other government and Central Bank of Libya officials.
