Libya's GUN urges for solid plan for reconstruction of Derna

The Minister of Local Government in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Badr Al-Deen Al-Toumi, stressed the importance of seeking assistance from international partners in the reconstruction process of the city of Derna, calling for “the necessity of having a solid plan for the reconstruction of the city.” 

Al-Toumi also highlighted the necessity of subjecting implementation work to an oversight committee to ensure adherence to specifications and sound execution of the plan.

LIA succeeds in lifting the last judicial seizure on its assets in France

The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) said it had succeeded in lifting the latest judicial seizures imposed on its assets by international parties and companies seeking to use LIA's funds and assets to pay alleged debts on some Libyan state entities.

LIA said in a statement on Sunday that it challenged those seizures at European courts and refused to use its funds to implement them, adding that the Paris Court of Appeal invalidated the last of these seizures, according to the two rulings issued on 11/16/2023 and 11/23/2023.

Libya draws with Cameroon in World Cup qualifiers

The Libyan national football team drew 1-1 with its Cameroonian counterpart at Benina Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi, in the second round of the group D of qualifiers for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, which includes: Libya, Cameroon, Angola, Cape Verde, Eswatini, and Mauritius.

The Cameroonian national team's first goal came from penalty in the 33rd minute of the first half, and before the end of the first half, in the 43rd minute, the Libyan national team equalized the score through Abdel Moneim Akasha.

Response operations in flood-hit communities at risk amid lack of funding

Head of the Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons, Kamal Al-Siwi, has cautioned that their operations may be jeopardized if they do not receive adequate funding to respond in the flood-affected regions.

In a press statement, Al-Siwi noted that despite the lack of financial resources, their teams are still providing services in Derna, which was severely impacted by the floods.

Al-Qaib, Bosnian ambassador discuss cooperation in higher education

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Imran Al-Qaib met on Sunday with the Bosnian Ambassador to Liya, Nermin Misnovic, to discuss cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries.

Al-Qaib presented during the meeting a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation to be studied by the Bosnian side.

The proposal includes dispatching campus assistants, faculty members, outstanding students, and rare medical specialities students to universities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Misrata reopens health complex after a decade-long wait

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah attended a ceremony on Saturday to mark the reopening of the Misrata Golden Clinic Complex after undergoing maintenance work.

In his address, the PM deemed the development a crucial step towards

reforming the "dilapidated" health sector, noting that 27 health facilities have been developed across various cities, including new sections and intensive care rooms.

The Misrata Golden Clinic Complex had been out of operation for over a decade, but now it has been restored with all its historical significance, the Dbeibah said.
