Amnesty demands Haftar to lift restrictions on media in eastern Libya
Amnesty International is accusing Khalifa Haftar'a militias, who are in de facto control of eastern Libya, including the flood-stricken city of Derna, of curtailing the media and hampering humanitarian aid efforts.
In its recent statement, the organization demanded that Haftar's self-styled army "must immediately lift all undue restrictions imposed on media and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to all affected communities."
CBL holds annual Libyan Banking Conference on Compliance
The second annual Libyan Banking Conference on Compliance kicked off in the Capital, Tripoli, on Monday under the supervision of Libya's Central Bank (CBL) and in cooperation with the Arab Banking Corporation "Bank ABC."

Libya among countries with highest water intake
Libya has the highest rate of water consumption in the Arab region and the world, estimated at 2,392 litres per capita per day, a recent UN publication reveals.
According to the bulletin, Libya consumes more than 80% of its renewable water resources despite being one of the most threatened countries in the world by water stress.
"Libya uses three times the average per capita consumption in the Arab world," the circular states.
Education Ministry says operating budget for schools has reached 85 million dinars
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Masouda Al-Aswad, said that the operating budget of educational institutions for the new academic year amounted to about 85 million dinars.
Masouda told the government's media platform Hakomitna that the distribution was according to the number of students in each area, indicating that 80% of the schools fulfilled the data and were ready to spend their budget, and that the schools located in 45 areas out of 90 had bank accounts that received their checks.
Authorities develop committee to deal with environmental issues following the floods
The food and drug control authority Al-Bayda has set up an emergency committee to receive reports about water contamination or epidemic situations in the flood-affected areas east of Libya.
The Food and Drug Control Centre on Sunday hosted a meeting grouping its director, besides the head of the Agricultural Research Centre, the director of the Environmental Sanitation Office, the director of the Bioresearch Centre, the director of the National Centre for Communicable Diseases, and the Al-Bayda Municipal Guard.

The city of Derna was struck by one of the largest natural disasters that the world has witnessed during the last decade, as the collapse of the two dams in the Derna Valley (the Al-Belad Dam with a capacity of 15 million cubic metres, and the Bu Mansour Dam with a capacity of 22 million cubic meters) led to a huge flood - estimated to be three times its capacity. The Dams have bulldozed the nearby areas and neighborhoods adjacent to the valley, throwing them into the sea and changing the features of the city forever.
