Oil union demands corruption investigation into former NOC chief

The head of the Oil and Gas Workers Union, Salem Al-Rumeih, has urged the Attorney General to launch a corruption investigation against Farhat Bengdara, the recently resigned head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC).

Al-Rumeih alleges that Bengdara misappropriated $230 million from Dubai Bank, which Bengdara heads and in which Libya holds a 60% stake. According to Al-Rumeih, the funds were handed over to three Emirati security firms in 2019, and the amount has yet to be reimbursed.

Acting Chief of NOC: Libya's oil production can reach 2 million bpd if funds are available

‎The Acting Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleiman, has said that the NOC is determined to reach a production of two million barrels per day (bpd) within the next three years provided that sufficient funding would be provided to achieve this goal.

Suleiman added during the opening of the Libya Energy and Economy Summit in Tripoli, on Saturday, that the Libyan oil sector is in a continuous recovery, as it has exceeded 1.4 million barrels per day, in addition to the production of gas and condensates, despite the size of the challenges and difficulties.

CAF slaps Libya fans with two-match ban, $50.000 fine

The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided on Sunday to punish the Libyan Football Federation by banning fans from attending two matches of the Libyan national team, with a fine of 50.000 dollars.

CAF said on its website that the penalty was due to the incidents that occurred during the match between the Libyan national team and Benin, which was held in Tripoli on November 18.

Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah joined a grand graduation ceremony at the University of Tripoli on Saturday, honoring the achievements of approximately 2,500 graduates from various faculties.

Dbeibah awards medics of Tripoli Eye Hospital

‎Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah honored on Saturday the medical, paramedical and administrative personnel at the Eye Hospital in Tripoli, in appreciation of the exceptional efforts they made during 2024.

Dbeibah hailed in a speech during a ceremony celebrating Tripoli Eye Hospital as one of the most prominent medical institutions in Libya what he described as the achievements made by the hospital, which included examining 200,000 patients and performing 12,000 surgeries in 2024.
