Libya's Mufti: Concord government is welcome in Tripoli if five amendments done to Skhirat agreement

Libya's Grand Mufti Al-Sadiq Al-Gharyani has reiterated his call for five amendments to the Libyan political agreement that must be done before any government can work freely in Tripoli.

"The Fatwa House studied the political agreement draft thoroughly and has five essential constants that must be met. It disregarded many other controversial notes in the draft," He said in a televised address late at night on Wednesday.

Al-Ghweil: UN-imposed Presidential Council members are infiltrators, they should turn themselves in to authorities

The Prime Minister of the Salvation Government, Khalifa Al-Ghweil, has described the members of the UN-imposed Presidential Council as illegitimate infiltrators, urging them to either turn themselves in or leave the country and return to where they came from.

Al-Sweihli qualifies for the semifinals of African Volleyball Championship

Al-Sweihli has made it to the semifinals of the African Volleyball Championship after beating Fab from Cameroon 3-1.

Al-Sweihli is continuing to put out a great performance in the Championship that is held in Cairo, Egypt, as it has won six matches in a row up until now. Al-Sweihli will play Talaya Al-Jaysh from Egypt on Thursday.

In the rest of the qualifying matches, Al-Ahli Benghazi beat Deem Ahmad from Sudan 3-0 and will play CFB from Cameroon on Thursday, too.

Indian Electromechanical Services Inc. extends work at Tripoli Medical Center

Tripoli Medical Center announced Tuesday that the Indian Electromechanical Services company will continue its work in the center until mid-April.

The Director of the Engineering Department in the center, Fareed Al-Gharyani, said the center and the Indian company agreed on extending the work until April 20 after they were promised to receive their financial dues by the Medical Insurance Department.

Libyan Football Federation sets date for Libyan Soccer League kickoff

The Libyan Football Federation has announced that the Libyan Football League and Libya Cup will be kicked off on April 15.

The Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported the Chairman of the Competitions Committee, Abdullah Al-Shahoumi, as saying that the LFF had already communicated with the specialized authorities to take the permission for the event’s kick-start and for receiving the necessary support, pointing out that Al-Shahoumi said that they are waiting for the reply to give the LFF the confirmation.

Libyan Coast Guard rescues 600 illegal immigrants

The Libyan Coast Guard rescued Monday 600 illegal migrants who were stranded at sea on the verge of drowning as they were cruising on three rubber boats toward Europe.

The spokesperson of the Naval Forces, Ayoup Qasim, said the Coast Guard intercepted three inflatable boats with 600 immigrants of different nationalities aboard, among whom some women and children, 10 miles to the north of Sabratha and Sorman.

4 Bangladeshi nationals have been killed in Benghazi, the country's Foreign Ministry confirmed on Sunday.

Ambassador of Bangladesh in Libya, Shahidul Haque, said the whereabouts of 3 of the dead bodies have already been found out while the fourth victim is yet to be identified. He identified the 3 victims as Md. Abdur Rahim (Rajbari), Md. Humayun Kabir (Mymenshingh/Jhenaidah), and Md. Hasan (Jessore).

Rejection to UN-imposed government grows in Libya

Misrata Council of Elders and civil society institutions in the city have totally rejected the UN-imposed government and its efforts to come to Tripoli, describing it a trusteeship government.

"We totally reject imposing this government on Libyans by force, as it failed to get Libyan consensus and vote of confidence from legislative authorities in Libya," a statement issued on Tuesday explained.

Libya’s football team beats Sao Tome and Principe, keeps hopes up for qualifying for AFCON

Libya has beat Sao Tome and Principe 4-0 in the first match of the second round in the sixth group at the AFCON qualifiers, Gabon 2017.

The first half was clear with no goals scored, but in the second half Mohammed Zaiba scored a hat-trick followed by a fourth goal by Mohammed Muneer, thus reviving the hopes for Libya to qualify for AFCON.
