The Speaker of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives, Aqilah Saleh, has sharply criticized the of the UN-proposed government’s Presidential Council, saying that the statement adds to the division in Libya and systematic violations of the political agreement as well as doubts the patriotism of the Libyan army.

Libyan Olympic Committee refutes dispute, confirms participation in Rio Olympics

The First Deputy Chairman of the Libyan Olympics Committee (LOC), Osman Al-Ganeen, announced that Libya will take part in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with five different game categories – judo, swimming, taekwondo, rowing, and athletics, pointing out that other categories will be added after qualifiers end.

This announcement comes after a meeting held Thursday by the LOC in which they discussed all about the participation of Libya in the Rio Olympics.

UN sanctions Indian-flagged vessel for shipping Libyan oil illegally

The United Nations has put the Indian-flagged vessel, Distya Ameya, on the black list for shipping oil illegally for Tobruk Parliament's government, which is not recognized internationally.

France Press reported a UN diplomat as saying that the UN decision was made by the Sanctions Committee of the UN after it asked for clarification from both India and the UAE, which might be the final destination of the vessel.

UN-proposed government hints of rejection to Haftar's unilateral decision to attack Sirte

The Presidential Council (PC) of the UN-proposed government has called on all military forces to wait for the appointment of a joint leadership for the liberation of Sirte from IS, asking them all to unite under the command of the PC as being the Chief Commander of Army according to Skhirat agreement.

In a statement Thursday, the PC said any force that violates these orders will be interrogated for violation of military laws and hampering the efforts exerted to fight IS in the country. 

Henna application deaths raise concerns in east Libya

A woman died on Tuesday in the eastern city of Al-Marj after applying henna on her hands, health authorities have announced.

Spokesperson of Al-Marj Hospital Mabrokh Saleh said Hanya Othman, 35, was admitted to hospital in critical condition after using henna, but she died shortly after admission.

Mabrookh added that the death toll of henna application deaths have risen to 42 since the registration of the first case in 2011.

Serbian national abducted in south Libya was found well and safe

A Serbian national who was abducted in south of Libya early this week was found on Wednesday.

Brigade 25 of Border Guard said it had found Miroslav Tomic, an oil worker with the German company Ferrostaal, in a desert place in Waw district, south west Libya, following a search operation in the region.

"There was blood in his head and hand but he is now in good health conditions," the brigade said.
