ISIS on the decline as Misrata-led forces retake new areas in Sirte

Misrata-led forces have taken full control of Al-Dollar neighbourhood following heavy clashes against the remnants of ISIS militants in Sirte on Sunday.

The Media bureau of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos said clashes are now underway in the nearby area of guest houses, a compound of lavish palaces that were used to host slain Gaddafi's visitors.

3 fighters were killed and 15 others wounded in the clashes, the field hospital reported.

Over 120 bodies drifted off Sabratha shores in one month

The Mayor of Sabratah, Hasan Al-Thuwadi said Sunday that more than 120 bodies for illegal immigrants drowned while trying to reach Europe via the Libyan shores in July alone, pointing out that bodies of migrants surface on a daily basis on the city’s beaches.

Al-Thuwadi added that 53 bodies were found on one days last week, stressing that all Sabratha beaches are open saying there are patrols but they have no sufficient equipment to fight off this crisis, which aggravated due to lack of security in the country.

Misrata Elders Council denounces Presidential council’s crackdown on demonstrators in Tripoli

Misrata Council of Elders and Notables issued a statement to denounce the crackdown on demonstrations at Tripoli’s Martyrs Square by armed groups affiliated with the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government on Friday.

The statement also decried the way those groups treated the crews of Tanasuh and Al-Nabaa TV channels as well as the abduction of a number of activists and confiscating of Tanasuh TV’s cameras and equipment.

Ben Hamid accuses Presidential Council of treason, calls for more protests at public squares

The military official in the Benghazi Shura Council, Wisam Ben Hamid, accused the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government of treason, splitting the country and stealing its fortunes, saying it does not aim at bringing the Libyans into concord nor does it aim at prevailing justice and unifying all citizens.

UN-installed government cracks down on media as anti protests rage in Tripoli and Misrata

Angry UN-installed government and France protesters marched in Tripoli’s main square on Friday, defying government measures to ban the protests.

The protesters chanted anti France and Dignity Operation slogans and denounced Fayaz Sirraj government for not taking a stiff reaction about the French intervention, demanding Sirraj government to leave office.

“Get out Sirraj……Sirraj is the enemy of God,” the protesters chanted.

Libya sees rise in traffic accidents

1175 people have been killed in traffic accidents in the first six months of 2016, authorities have reported.

Data released by the Ministry of Interior showed a rise in traffic accidents during the first half of 2016 compared to the same period last year.

In this year’s first half, there were 2378 accidents resulting in 1175 deaths and 1863 injuries, the data showed, adding that 3581 vehicles were damaged.

Zuwara rejects coast municipalities’ agreement to appoint a brigade to run Ras Ajdair border

Zuwara municipality, elders’ council, and civil societies said they reject the statement of the coast municipalities that was issued on Monday appointing Jamal Al-Ghayeb brigade to run the Ras Ajdair border.

In a statement, they demanded an apology statement for Zuwara residents from the coast municipalities as they urged for division in the city, saying Ras Ajdair is for all Libyans and because it is located on the administrative borders of the Zwuara municipality, no one can interfere in its internal affairs without prior approval.
