Al-Zawiya elders and notables agree on a ceasefire

One of the notables from al-Zawiya city, Mohammed Al-Kemjaji, said the notables of the city came to terms regarding effecting a truce and a ceasefire after three days of fierce armed clashes.

In a TV statement, Al-Kemjaji added that the agreement includes an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of all the military vehicles from Al-Zawiya city.

Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces spearhead frontal attacks on IS in Sirte

The Misrata-led forces launched Monday an all-out attack on IS last location in Sirte’s Jiza neighborhood, the member of the media office of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, Saleh Al-Taweel confirmed.

Al-Taweel added that all the field and military senior leaders had met over the last days and came up with the needed tactics for the storming into the seaside Jiza neighborhood.

“The advance on Jiza was from the seaside as per the military tactics, which the leaders said would bring all IS militants down.” He continued.

Libya's Mufti: Khalifa Haftar is plotting Benghazi scenario for Al-Zawiya

Libya’s Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani, has warned Al-Zawiya residents of conspiracies being plotted by Khalifa Haftar and his entourage to entice conflict among them.

“You should use Benghazi as an example of what would become of you and your city if you let Haftar’s conspiracies work on you.” The Mufti said on Tanasuh TV addressing Al-Zawiya residents.

Central Bank of Libya: Inflation rates skyrocketed during first half of 2016

The Central Bank of Libya has issued its annual economic index for the first half of 2016, showing a serious hike in inflation with 25.3% from January to June 30 compared to 8.7% for the same period in 2015 and 9.8% of the entire 2015, which really explains the rocketing of prices on levels in the Libyan market.

The CBL index shows that the deficit in the expenditure had hit 16.36 billion dinars last year, while it was 27.4 billion in 2014.

Eastern governor announces salary increase as he hints at military officers’ betrayal of Dignity Operation

The self-proclaimed military governor of east Libya Abdul-Razzaq Al-Nadori revealed Saturday that a number of officers in Khalifa Haftar-led armed forces are betraying the army, saying they would be suppressed if they move against it.   

 “We don’t want to name them, but we are watching them and we will arrest them in the coming days,” Al-Nadori says in a footage posted on social media.

He indicated that they are still building their army and it is not time of betrayal and stabbing in the back.

Red Crescent evacuates civilians from dangerous zones as clashes continue in Zawiya

More than 40 families have been evacuated from the conflict area in Zawiya city on Saturday, the Libyan Red Crescent has reported, saying many other families are still trapped due to the heavy gunfire.

The LRC sent an urgent appeal to the warring groups to halt fighting to enable the trapped families to leave to safe zones.

“We urge the trapped families to calm down and keep away from widows until we manage to evacuate them,” the LRC advises.

Car bomb kills anti-corruption activist in Libya's Benghazi

The head of Libyan Anti-Corruption Organization Mohamed Abu Gaiqis was killed in a car bomb explosion in Benghazi on Saturday.

The car, laden with explosives, was blown up near a cafe in Al-Kish square where Abu Gaiqis was sitting, leaving 2 other people dead and 17 others wounded.

The identity of the attackers is still unknown.
