Unidentified armed group wages war on Tunisia-bound fuel-smuggling tanker trucks

An armed group dubbed “Anti-Fuel-Smuggling Brigade” said it had been responsible for targeting a number of fuel tanker trucks that were smuggling fuel from Al-Zawiya to Tunisia.

Eyewitnesses said they found a leaflet near the trucks after the drivers got off reading that this group does not work for the government and vows to explode any fuel-smuggling truck that would come across it, including the people inside.

The spokesman for Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, warned Barak Al-Shatti’s residents about letting the terrorist groups succeed in controlling the airport and military base of the district, saying it would pose a grave threat to their forces.

“IS militants are receiving support from Khalifa Haftar’s forces because they and IS radicals are two sides of the same coin.” Al-Ghasri said in a press statement.

Benghazi Shura Council says it is not IS nor Al-Qaeda

The Benghazi Shura Council (BSC) denied any ties whatsoever with any political party or entity inside and outside Libya with no exceptions.

In a statement dubbed “Hear from us, don’t hear about us” on Friday, the Benghazi Shura Council said they had no ties nor links to IS, Muslim Brotherhood Group, Al-Qaeda, and the Libyan Fighting Group as well as others, adding that it remains unassociated with any of the political and regional conflicts, which have so far wrecked the country’s stability and plunged it into chaos.

Family survives fire in Libya's Bayda

A family in the eastern city of Bayda had a narrow escape when a fire broke out in their flat on Wednesday.

A local source said the family was operating a power generator in the balcony when it suddenly exploded putting the flat on fire.

The entire family fainted because of suffocation caused by the smoke, but they were so lucky when their neighbours rushed to the burning flat and pulled them out.

The family members are now in good health, the source said.

NCHRL deplores Dignity Operation calls for war in Tripoli

The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has expressed deep concern over the media statements issued by military leaders of east Libya and their military deployment in the western region on the pretext of Tripoli liberation.

In a statement on Thursday, the NCHRL said the statements of senior Dignity Operation leaders are regarded as "incitement to violence and civil war and a blow to peace and reconciliation efforts in the western region."

Ghat tourism festival ends

The 22nd edition of Ghat International Tourism Festival wrapped up on Wednesday under the theme "Ghat, Treasures of Nature and Resources of Heritage."

During the three-day event, a market for folk and traditional items was held, which reflected the old days of the town and its residents' way of living.

The closing day included folkloric songs, traditional dance, Tuareq dresses show, Mahari (camel) racing, and traditional food display.

Zubia accuses Presidency Council of being behind his abduction

The Director of Foreign Media Department in the Salvation Government has accused UN-proposed Presidency Council (PC) of being behind his abduction and torture.

Jamal Zubia said on Thursday that he had filed a lawsuit in a local court against the PC, indicating that he seeks to file another one against it in the International Criminal Court on charges of forced disappearance and torture.

“The crimes that were committed against me are against humanity that do not have statute of limitations,” he remarked.

Presidential Council decries Dignity Operation leaders’ statements, calls them trivial

The UN-proposed government’s Presidential Council (PC) denounced the statements of what it called some of the eastern region’s military leaders in which they belittled the sacrifices of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos “heroes” and the martyrs.

“Such statements are trivial and a rejected violation as they had underestimated the significance of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos forces and their sacrifices.” The PC said in a statement Wednesday.
