Al-Sirraj calls for building Libyan military under civilian command, urges HoR not to abuse its authorities

The Presidential Council's Head, Fayez Al-Sirraj, urged for building a united Libyan army under a civilian command, adding that he is exerting efforts t build the state of law, institution and democracy that will guarantee that the dictatorship rule will never return to Libya.

In his speech at the 28th Arab Summit in Jordan, Al-Sirraj called on the House of Representatives to stop abusing its powers and to commit to democratic meeting sessions.

General Libyan Union of Chambers calls for urgent meeting on economic juncture

The General Libyan Union of Chambers (GLUCC) has called on the Presidential Council (PC) and the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) as well as the Planning and Economic Ministries, besides the other relevant authorities, to hold a meeting to discuss the needed urgent decisions to be made to resolve Libya's current economic crunch.

In a statement on Wednesday, the GLUCC said the meeting call comes in a time when Libya is swept over by the effects of bad economic situation, given the current acute shortage of commodities in the Libyan market.

6 women from Benghazi’s Ganfouda were released from prison on Tuesday in a prisoner exchange deal between Benghazi Defense Brigades and Dignity Operation.

Boshra News Agency said the 6 women, including 2 girls, were arrested by Dignity Operation forces during the final offensive on Ganfouda.  

3 Dignity Operation fighters, who were arrested during oil crescent clashes, were also released in exchange for the 6 women.

Dignity Operation fighter aircraft crashes in east Libya

A Dignity Operation fighter aircraft crashed into a house in Tobruk city on Wednesday killing all crewmembers on board.

Local sources said the MiG21 aircraft crashed into the house of Kahashi family in Tarsha district, south Toburk, after conducting an airstrike in Derna early in the day.

The pilot, Chief of Tobruk Airbase Saleh Joda, and his assistants were killed. The householder his wife and their child were also killed.

Tripoli security department spells out details of hit-and-miss shooting outside Commercial Bank

The Tripoli Security Department has issued a statement confirming that an outlaw armed group carried out a random shooting on Tuesday morning at the National Commercial Bank, Sooq Al-Thulatae, Tripoli.

"One security guard was killed and three others were injured due to the haphazard shooting, besides the abduction of three other security guards who were at the bank." The statement says.

Justice Ministry releases 14 Gaddafi regime prisoners

The media office of the UN-proposed government's Justice Ministry confirmed the release of 14 prisoners from Hadba Prison in Tripoli.

The release took place on Tuesday morning after all the legal procedures were completed, the media office added.

"Some of the freed inmates were locked up upon 17 February revolution cases, others were in jail for Abu Salim Massacre, while the rest were imprisoned upon financial cases." The media office explained.
