The mayor of Gharyan Yousif Bdairi said the municipal council has told the Presidential Council's Head Fayez Al-Sirraj urging him to announce the city a disaster area after the forces of Khalifa Haftar seized on April 04.
The mayor told reporters on Sunday that they are trying to transfer the location of the municipality to Tripoli and then form a committee to monitor the displaced people's conditions as well as those of the injured, adding that things are getting worse in the city.
The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, has ordered for kind treatment of the captives of Khalifa Haftar's forces and the release of the ones who are under 18, calling their families to take them home.
This came in a visit paid by Al-Sarraj to the join operations room, where he met with western, Tripoli, and central military zones' commander and other military figures.
Military sources from the Libyan Army under the command of the Presidential Council (PC) have confirmed shooting down a MIG 23 for Khalifa Haftar's Air Force in Qasir Benghashir in southern Tripoli, saying the pilots had ejected themselves and search operations are still ongoing.
The sources added that the aircraft took off from Watiya airbase in western Tripoli, saying the Air Force of the PC targeted Sunday the airbase.
The commander of the self-styled army Khalifa Haftar arrived Sunday in Cairo and met with the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The spokesman for the Egyptian President Bassam Rida said the meeting would be for discussions of the latest developments in Libya.
