Head of Awqaf of east-based government sacked

In what appears as a rift between Khalifa Haftar and his Madkhali backers, the Prime Minister of the Interim Government in eastern Libya Abdullah Al-Thinni has sacked the Head of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Authority Abdolmawla Al-Hasnouni - a man linked to Saudi Salafist-Madkhali sect - and replaced him with Abdelmatloub Erhouma.

Salafist-Madkhalis are supporters of Khalifa Haftar and have fought for him in Benghazi and Derna and are fighting now in Tripoli.

Libya's Interior Minister asks Cyprus not to issue passports for Haftar's sons

The Interior Minister of the Libyan Presidential Council's government Fathi Bashagha has asked his counterpart in Cyprus not to issue passports for four sons of Khalifa Haftar, after news said they were applying for them currently.

The call came in an official letter sent by Bashagha and posted by the media office on Facebook on Tuesday.

The member of the Presidential Council Mohammed Amari said if "warlord Khalifa Haftar" has set the date of the beginning of the war on Tripoli, then the "Government of National Accord" will set the date of its end.

"We're going to send envoys to 17 countries around the world to convey our perspective of the war in Tripoli that has been started by Haftar." Amari said, adding that UN envoy Ghassan Salame should reveal what he said in his last briefing at the UN Security Council.
