Libya's Tripoli-based HoR denounces Salame's meetings with Haftar, says he's biased

Members of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) convening in Tripoli denounced Tuesday the meeting of UNSMIL's Head Ghassan Salame with "outlaw Khalifa Haftar."

They said in a letter to the Secretary General of the UN that Haftar has no authority or official occupation as the HoR scrapped General Commander of Army post that was given to him by Tobruk-based HoR in 2015.

Libya's Foreign Minister attends Beijing's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation

The Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala attended Tuesday the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing.

Sayala said that the countries of the North African region think highly of boosting cooperation with China, which was also reiterated in the last Beijing's forum.

He also said that the region is willing to implement the recommendations of the forum in all fields to achieve the targeted partnership between China and Africa.

UN envoy to Libya meets with PC, HCS Heads in Tripoli

The Head of the UNSMIL Ghassan Salame has met with the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj and the Head of the High Council of State Khalid Al-Mishri in Tripoli and briefed them on the developments in his latest visit to eastern Libya and meeting with Khalifa Haftar.

UNSMIL said the meeting with Al-Sarraj discussed the results of Salame's eastern Libya's visit, without giving further details.

Libyan National Forces Alliance proposes ceasefire, political dialogue initiative

The Libyan National Forces Alliance (NFA), along with several Libyan stakeholders, has proposed an initiative that aims at ending the fighting in Tripoli and calls for returning to the political process.

Chairman of the NFA, Mahmoud Jibril, said in a statement Tuesday that the initiative aims at limiting the perils caused by the continuous fighting in the country, especially in Tripoli, saying any ceasefire must be accompanied by an all-party political process.
