80 days have passed since Khalifa Haftar has launched his offensive against Tripoli with remarkable struggling on his forces' part to advance on or maintain positions in southern Tripoli, especially after their supply lines from Al-Jufra to Gharyan has been destroyed.
The western zone forces under the Presidential Council's command said earlier they had attacked a military convoy moving toward Al-Jufra, leaving many fighters killed or injured.
The Head of UNSMIL Ghassan Salame met Saturday in Al-Rajma with Khalifa Haftar and discussed the reasons that led to the war on Tripoli and the consequent humanitarian crisis in the capital.
UNSMIL said on Twitter that Salame and Haftar discussed also ways possible to reach a transition to a political solution in Libya.
The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres appointed Friday Yacoub El Hillo as the new Humanitarian Coordinator to replace Maria do Valle Ribeiro of Ireland.
Guterres hailed the work done by Ribeiro and wished El Hillo best wishes in his new post.
Meanwhile, the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame expressed his sincere appreciation to the outgoing coordinator Ribeiro, upon conclusion of her assignment in Libya after more than two years.
