US court to continue to look into accusations against Haftar, cites sufficient evidence

A US District Court rejected on Tuesday Khalifa Haftar's effort to dismiss a pair of lawsuits against him brought by plaintiffs who said he was responsible for the deaths of their family members, citing sufficient evidence, including videos where Haftar ordered his forces to commit war crimes, for violation of US torture and war crimes law.

The court dismissed Haftar's claim of head-of-state immunity and gave the US Department of State 60 days to comment or else the claim would be invalid.

Pompeo: Russia working to destabilize Libya

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has accused Russia of working to destabilize Libya and escalate tensions, saying in a presser in Greece that Washington and Athens are working to improve naval cooperation to block Moscow's malign activities in the region.

Earlier in a meeting in Rome with the Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi di Maio, Pompeo said Washington was ready to use its diplomacy to reach a solution in Libya, saying the situation on the ground in Libya got improved and that they should seize the opportunity.

Al-Hibri says Al-Thinni Government spent anti-coronavirus budget in 10 days

The governor of the parallel Libyan Central Bank Ali Al-Hibri said he approved a budget of 300 million dinars for the Interim Government of Abdullah Al-Thinni in eastern Libya for anti-coronavirus measures, 284 million of which the government spent in 10 days.

Al-Hibri told a local TV channel that there's no transparency and the way the anti-coronavirus committees are working is wrong, blaming the Interim Government for the squandering of the budget.

Ministry of Justice opens new facilities at Ain Zara prison

The Ministry of Justice has established new court halls in addition to other facilities at the Ain Zara Reform and Rehabilitation Institution.

The Minister of Justice, Muhammad Lamlum, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday besides several officials from relevant bodies and departments.

In his speech for the occasion, Lamlum praised the efforts made to ensure that the new constructions meet the safety standers, including those related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Interior Ministry holds training course on crime scene management

The Interior Ministry has held a training course in the field of crime scene management, for the Tripoli Security Directorate agents, in cooperation with experts from the English Security Risk Management Company "Rose Partners".

The course took place at the HQ of the General Administration of Training under the Interior Ministry and targeted around 30 trainees from the Centers Affairs Department and the Emergency Department of the Tripoli Security Directorate.

Joint Force arrests alleged ISIS members, fuel smugglers and migrants

The Joint Force of the Military of Defence has arrested five individuals suspected of belonging to the ISIS group.

The force clarified that the detainees include two Tunisians, an African, and two Libyans.

Sources said that four of the cell members were arrested in a security operation south of the city of Aljmail, near the Tunisian border, while the fifth was caught in an ambush on the highway.

The Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum, agreed during his meeting with Tunisian officials on Monday to advance the Libyan political track with the aim of establishing a comprehensive and constructive dialogue between the Libyans themselves.

Boukadoum said in a statement after his meeting with the Tunisian President, Kais Saied, at the Carthage Palace, that he had heard the Tunisian officials’ point of views about the situation in the region and the challenges it poses, especially the situation in Libya.
