NOC warns against politicizing oil sector

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has reiterated its rejection of attempts to politicize the oil crisis in the country, saying it will not allow the oil sector to be used as a bargaining chip in a "fruitless negotiation" to achieve political gains.

NOC Chairman, Mustafa Sanallah emphasized, in a statement on Thursday, that the force majeure can't be lifted in light of the current crisis and non-organized negotiations.

UN to restructure Support Mission in Libya, appoint a coordinator

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) will be restructured for the first time since its onset in 2011, after it has been given a one more year mandate.

Libyan ambassador to the UN Taher El Sonni said on Twitter that the UN Security Council decided to appoint a special coordinator for the UNSMIL and replace the post title from Special Representative of the Secretary General to Special Envoy to Libya.

Sirte-Jufra Operations Room increases patrols after depicting dubious movements

Sirte-Jufra Operations Room forces have intensified patrols on Al-Nahr in south Sirte and in Bunajim and south of Al-Wishka, after depicting dubious movements in the area, saying the security procedures are aimed to prevail stability and detain "Haftar's militia fighters".

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the room Abdelhadi Drah told Libya Al-Ahrar TV Channel that (Antonov and Ilyushin) military cargo aircraft arrived from Syria's Lattakia to Libya's Al-Bayda.

Turkey and Russia have inched closer to a deal on a ceasefire and political process in Libya during their latest meetings in Ankara, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in an interview with broadcaster CNN Turk late on Wednesday.

Both sides held this week a new round of talks on developments in Syria and Libya, which was expected to end on Wednesday.

Libyan healthcare professionals participate in the UN series meetings on combating Covid-19

A group of Libyan healthcare professionals has participated in the UN-supported meeting on technical exchanges to combat COVID-19.

A statement by the UNSMIL said the meeting's goal is to strengthen the response to COVID-19 and discuss, at the technical-level, ways to address gaps in service delivery.

It expressed hope that these discussions will help increase awareness around needs and response planning on COVID-19 issues seeking to build longer-term mechanisms for public health cooperation across the country.
