Bloomberg: Al-Sarraj has rejected Libyan oil deal between Haftar and Mitig

Bloomber said the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj didn’t accept the deal reached between the member of Presidential Council Ahmed Mitig and Khalifa Haftar to lift the 8-month long oil blockade, according to a top aide of Al-Sarraj, casting further doubt on an imminent resumption of production.

Mitig said in an interview with Bloomberg that he thought Al-Sarraj would embrace the deal, but the senior aide, who can’t be named because of internal policy, denied that in a response to Bloomberg questions.

US embassy in Libya hints at rejecting Haftar-Mitig oil deal

The United States' embassy in Libya has rejected some Libyan personalities' pursuit of personal gains at the expense of Libyan people's greater good.

The US embassy said on Twitter Friday: "we strongly support UNSMIL’s message and recognize Fayez Al-Sarraj’s political courage in signaling a willingness to set aside personal interests for the benefit of the Libyan people".

GECOL: Total blackout sweeps through central and southern Libya

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said a total blackout had been caused in central and southern power networks due to the abstaining of some areas from adhering to the program of rolling power cuts in the regions.

Two days ago, GECOL announced a total blackout in the western region. Later, its service teams managed to regain power after fixing the damaged grids of the western region's power network.

Libyan Army official rejects Haftar-Mitig deal to reopen oil

The commander of the western military zone of the Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord Osama Juweili has rejected the deal between the member of the Presidential Council Ahmed Mitig and Khalifa Haftar to end oil blockade.

Juweili told reporters that the House of Representatives members in Tripoli and the Presidential Council should clarify their stances on this agreement.

UNSMIL discusses economic track with Libyan experts

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) discussed on Thursday, with a group of Libyan economic experts along with representatives from the UNDP and the World Bank the progress made in the economic track, as part of the third meeting of the Libyan Economic Dialogue.

In a statement on its website, the UNSMIL explained that the meeting which was convened virtually dealt with the policy road map developed as part of the Berlin process, as well as the on-going economic reform efforts and the "deepening" banking crisis.
