Libya's Presidential Council allocates 2 billion dinars for municipalities' expenditures

The Libyan Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has allocated 2 billion dinars for the expenditures of municipalities to cover development and other projects across the country.

The Presidential Council said Tuesday the 2 billion would be split as 30% would go to the second chapter of municipal laws and 70% would go to the third, while the Ministry of Local Governing and General Authority of High Council for Local Administration would manage the expenditures.

The French government is investigating a senior French military officer working at an Italy-based NATO facility, monitoring the situation in Libya and the Sahara, for passing sensitive information to Russian.

Minister of the French Armies, Florence Parly told Europe 1 radio "What I can confirm is that a senior officer is facing legal proceedings for a security breach," but gave no further details.

Explosion in western Tripoli believed to be terrorist suicide attack

An explosion, believed to be a terrorist suicide attack, rocked western Tripoli (Ghiran Checkpoint) and according to different sources, the attack was carried out by a man who blew himself up as he drove by on his motorcycle.

No official statement was made by authorities in Tripoli, but sources said the suicide bomber blasted himself on his bike at the Ghiran Checkpoint between Janzour and Tripoli. No casualties were reported.

Shipment of medical supplies to combat the Coronavirus pandemic arrives in Tripoli

The Ministry of Health announced the arrival of a large shipment of medical supplies at Mitiga International Airport to assist in confronting the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry explained that the shipment, which arrived on a plane for the air ambulance, carried a cargo which included Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing devices along with a number of nasal swab testing kits.

Mayor of Misurata dies of coronavirus

The Municipal Council of Misurata has mourned the Mayor of the city, Mustafa Karwad, who passed away at dawn yesterday of the novel coronavirus.

"Mustafa Karwad Mayor of Misurata has passed away after a two-week-long battle against the coronavirus disease," the media advisor to the Health Ministry tweeted out on his account on Monday.

 A three-day period of mourning will take place and flags will be lowered within the administrative boundaries of the city, a statement by the Municipal Council said.
