Libya refuses to chair Arab League presidency

Libya has refused to take over the chairmanship of the current session of the Arab League (AL) after Palestine decided to concede its right to the current chair, in protest over the UAE and Bahrain deals with Israel.

"Libya's representative to the Arab League, Saleh Al-Shammakhi, has officially informed the Secretariat of AL of Libya's decision," said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohammad Al-Qiblawi, on Tuesday.

Transport Minister discusses resumption of Turkish Airlines flights to Libya

Minister of Transport, Milad Matouq, has discussed with the Turkish Ambassador, Serhat Aksan, developments regarding the return of Turkish companies to Libya, in particular, airports, roads, and ports services.

The discussions came at a meeting yesterday in Tripoli, in the presence of the General Director of Turkey's Albayrak Group and the head of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority.

Libya's Central Bank warns of financial collapse due to immense debts

The governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir warned Tuesday of a financial collapse due to the increased general debt of the state.

Al-Kabir, in a briefing at the Tripoli-based House of Representatives, said the general debt of the state reached a record high of 270% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), adding that Libyan oil revenues dropped dramatically from 53.2 billion dollars in 2012 to almost (Zero) 2020.

Head of Presidential Council offers condolences for death of MG Sulaiman Al-Abedi

The Head of Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj has offered his condolences to the family of Major General (MG) Sulaiman Al-Abedi who died Tuesday morning.

Al-Sarraj said Libya lost one of its loyal sons who was very responsible and upheld the constants of patriotism in the toughest time Libya had seen.

Al-Abedi's family said the MG died of complications related to coronavirus.

Libya reopens mosques after seven-month closure over Covid-19

Libya's General Authority of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs said mosques "will reopen for all prayers starting next Friday" after over seven months of closure due to coronavirus pandemic.

The Authority said in a statement that the decision to reopen mosques came after thorough consultations with the High Commission for Coronavirus Response.
