The member of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord in Libya, Mohammed Emmari Zayed said the assaults of French President Emmanuel Macron on Islam, Muslims and Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) are slurs to the religion and worshippers across the globe.

Zayed said Macron's remarks only degrade him and have zero effect on Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), saying France's history has always been "brutal" despite claims of freedom of expression and human rights.

The spokesman for the Libyan Army under the Government of National Accord (GNA) Mohammed Gununu said they don’t trust a peaceful solution that includes the criminal and the victim, referring to the ceasefire agreement between the GNA and Khalifa Haftar that was signed in Geneva on Friday.

Gununu urged on his Twitter account the UNSMIL to send UN monitoring teams to Sirte and Jufra as well as Brak Al-Shati to oversee the departure of thousands of foreign mercenaries, who are using Sirte and Jufra as their main hub.

Libya's Defense Ministry wants assurances that no coup will topple newly-signed ceasefire

The Defense Ministry of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) urged the UNSMIL to provide assurances that guarantee that no coup would be carried out against the newly-signed ceasefire in Geneva, citing several violations of ceasefires in the past, including when Khalifa Haftar waged his war on Tripoli in April 2019 while the Secretary General of the UN was present.

US ambassador: Wagner Group operates on behalf of the Kremlin in Libya

The ambassador of the United States Richard Norland said there is no doubt that Wagner Group is operating on behalf of the Russian government, adding that its activities are destabilizing Libya.

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awasat newspaper, Norland said the presence of any armed groups, including Wagner, in Libya will only lead to undermining the measures of trust building between the parties to the conflict.

Contradictory statements cast doubt on withdrawal of mercenaries from Sirte and Jufra

The Commander of the Joint Force in the Western Region, Brigadier General Fitori Gribel, said that the process of withdrawing all heavy weapons and mercenaries of warlord Khalifa Haftar from Sirte and Jufra will begin by the end of this week or next week.

In a press statement, Gribel added that sub-committees emanating from the 5 + 5 Military Commission will be formed to directly supervise the withdrawal of forces from the Sirte and Jufra regions and from any other areas where there is a military presence.

NOC lifts force majeure status on Sidra, Ras Lanuf ports

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) declared on Friday lifting the force majeure status on the ports of Sidra and Ras Lanuf, reaffirming it had given instructions to start production arrangements subject to the standards of general security and safety precautions and the safety of the operation.

"The National Oil Corporation has received confirmations that the foreign forces had left the ports area which will enable it to perform its oil operations and resume exports," a statement by the NOC said on Facebook.
