Sarraj: Ceasefire deal lays ground for economic and political tracks

Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Sarraj, has praised the role of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement in Libya saying it will stop the bloodshed, lift the suffering of Libyans, and pave the way towards the success of the economic and political tracks.

The PC's head remarks came during his statement to mark the anniversary of the liberation of the country from Gaddafi's grip on October 23, 2011.

The two Libyan delegations to the 5+5 Joint Military Commission signed Friday a permanent ceasefire agreement following weeks of talks in Geneva, brokered by UN mission in Libya UNSMIL.

The Libyan rivals stressed the country’s unity and sovereignty and agreed that state decisions will not be taken under foreign dictations.

According to the agreement, both sides will evacuate frontlines from fighters and order foreign mercenaries to leave the country within three months from the signing date.

Misrata members of Muslim Brotherhood Group resign

Muslim Brotherhood members from Misrata city have resigned from the group and dissolved the group’s bureau in the city.

Misrata members of Muslim Brotherhood Group said in a statement they had resigned to avoid being the pretext of any agenda aiming to end freedoms and prevent the completion of the revolutionary project and goals.
