Libyan HoR summons government for questioning on August 30

The spokesman for the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Abdullah Blehiq said the HoR will summon the Government of National Unity for questioning on August 30, adding in a Facebook post that the step is triggered by a letter filed by MPs containing remarks on the government’s performance: something the laws of the HoR permits.

11 MPs from eastern Libya, who support Khalifa Haftar, filed a letter last week calling for a vote of no-confidence in the government after its "failure and region-biased approach".

Al-Kabir: Libya needs to increase oil output by 40% to cover expenditure

The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir said Libya needs to increase oil production by 40% to cover expenditure and revamp economy, adding that Libya's gold reserves stand at 116.6 tons.

Al-Kabir told Bloomberg that Libyan oil production should be boosted to 1.8 million barrels per day in 2022, saying the CBL is working with the National Oil Corporation and will use the surplus of the budget, if oil prices are stable, to upgrade the oil facilities in the country.

The head of the Egyptian-Libyan Chamber, Nasser Bayan, has confirmed the postponement of negotiations with Libyan officials regarding the participation of Egyptian companies in the reconstruction of Libya, after the Libyan presidential elections.
