Tobruk seaport set to launch cruises to Turkey

Tobruk Port is planning to launch cruises to Turkey and other countries, the port's administration has confirmed.

The disclosure was made during a meeting between the Chairman of the Steering Council of Tobruk Municipality, Faraj Abu Al-Khattabiya, and Tobruk seaport administration, in the presence of the commander of the Tobruk Naval Base and the Undersecretary of the municipality office.

Stranded migrants rescued after eight days at sea

A joint patrol of the Naval Special Forces, the Coast Guard, and Port Security in the Zawiya Refinery has rescued 12 irregular migrants from the sea after eight days of being stranded.

The Coast Guard of Zawiya said in a statement on Facebook that the migrants were rescued after a six-hour search.

Upon their rescue, the migrants told the rescue teams that they have been stranded in the sea for eight days.

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres said during the eighth meeting of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact that the terrorism threat in Africa is in fact increasing, although the overall number of deaths from terrorism has declined.

Guterres stressed that the international community cannot effectively address terrorism without tackling the conditions conducive to its spread, such as weak institutions, inequalities, poverty, hunger and injustice.

Williams says Cairo meeting attendees have agreed on 43 new articles of Libyan draft constitution

The UN Advisor on Libya, Stephanie Williams, has confirmed that the representatives of the High Council of State (HCS) and House of Representatives (HoR) at Cairo-hosted final round of constitutional talks on 43 new articles of the draft constitution, thus now agreeing on a total of 180 articles since the start of talks.

Williams told Arabi 21 website on Monday that the talks had seen remarkable progress, stressing that this is the final round and the joint HCS-HoR committee should come up with a constitutional framework for elections.

Al-Sayeh: There are suspected Monkeypox cases in Libya

The Head of the National Center for Disease Control, Haider Al-Sayeh, said there are more than one suspected cases of monkeypox, but none of them have been confirmed.

Regarding the virus spreading in schools, Al-Sayeh explained that “this is something that happens every year, and not only in Libya, but also in several countries,” adding that the monitoring teams in municipalities have taken some samples for tests in the center’s laboratories.
