The Attorney General has established a security room to investigate incidents concerning the smuggling of subsidized urea fertilizer out of the country.

In a statement Saturday, the Attorney General cautioned that it would prosecute everyone who violates the regulating legislation, including distributors and farmers.

Major sports compound in Tripoli set to open as maintenance work nears completion

Rajab Okasha Sports Complex in Tripoli will open its doors soon to sports activities as the maintenance work at the complex is nearing completion, the Ministry of Sports confirmed on Saturday.

According to a statement by the ministry, the concrete dome of the complex underwent maintenance and technical improvements. It also noted that developments included establishing new facilities within the compound.

Menfi reviews security situation in Tripoli with US, UN officials

The Head of the Presidential Council (PC), Muhammad Menfi, discussed during a call on Saturday with US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland the security situation in Libya, mainly in the capital, Tripoli.

A statement by the PC said the two sides stressed the importance for all parties to commit to calm and put the national interest first.

The conversation touched upon ways to advance the political process in Libya and the constitutional track meetings taking place in Cairo.

PC gives ministers of defence and interior 72 hours to report on recent clashes in Tripoli

The Presidential Council (PC), in its capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, has given the ministers of defence and interior three days to submit a report on the armed clashes that took place in the capital Tripoli on Friday night.

"Whoever endangers the lives of civilians and tampers with private and public property will expose himself to legal prosecution, and everyone should deal responsibly and give priority to the nation's interest," the PC stated.

Libya loses more than one million bpd due to oil closures

The Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Aoun, said that Libya is currently losing more than 1,100,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil production due to the closures imposed on major export fields and ports.

Aoun added that most of the oil fields are closed, except for the Hamada field and the Mellitah complex, while the Al-Wafa field continues operations from time to time.

Foreign Minister from Malta: Libya is facing a political crisis

The Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, met with her Maltese counterpart, Ian Borg, in Valletta and confirmed that Libya had been facing a political crisis amid lots of challenges, reiterating that there's hope for reaching a Libyan-Libyan solution as well as a comprehensive dialogue for all parties to lead the country to elections.

The visit by Al-Mangoush comes as part of the commemoration of the Libyan-Maltese historical relations - June 11, 1964.

Heavy clashes took place on Friday between two armed groups in Tripoli’s Sooq Al-Thulata roundabout area as the sound of gunfire and explosions was heard by many residents in the capital.

Footage circulated on social media platforms showed civilians in panic amid gunfire in the crowded area, where a large number of families happened to be out for a time of relaxation and fresh air with the high temperatures and power outages that are plunging the capital.
