A high-level meeting was held on Thursday in the capital, Tripoli, to discuss the latest developments in the country.
The Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Raisedon Zenenga, has reaffirmed commitment to continue efforts to support a fair and transparent political process in Libya.
A process he described as led by the Libyans to ensure conducting parliamentary and presidential elections, in accordance with an agreed constitutional framework and consistent with the outcomes of the Berlin conferences, the Stabilization Support Conference in Libya, and the Paris Conference.
Libyan Parliament Speaker Aqaila Saleh has praised his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his visit to Turkey, describing his meetings in Ankara as ‘very fruitful.’
In an interview with the Turkish newspaper Yeni Şafak, Saleh said that they need Ankara's support to preserve Libya's territorial integrity, adding that he conveyed to Erdogan, during their meeting, ‘a very clear’ picture of the Libyan scene.
The Tabu Congress commemorated the 3rd anniversary of ‘August 4th Massacre’, in which 48 civilians were killed and 60 others wounded, following Haftar’s warplanes bombardment of the city of Murzuq.
‘This incident is yet another crime to be added to bloody record of Haftar's militia,’the Congress stated.
The second local government elections have been launched in Tarhuna, and preparations are on for other targeted municipalities, the Central Committee of Municipal Council Elections (CCMCE) has confirmed.
"The municipal council elections in Tarhuna mark the launching of the municipal council elections in 11 other municipalities, which will take place successively as planned until 2025," the committee said in a statement.
