UNSMIL deeply concerned over threats of force to resolve legitimacy claims in Libya

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has said it is following with deep concern the ongoing mobilization of forces and threats to resort to force to resolve legitimacy claims in Libya.

UNSMIL added in a statement on Tuesday that the current political stalemate and all aspects of the crisis that afflict Libya cannot be resolved through armed confrontation.

The United States has said it is deeply concerned by renewed threats of violent confrontation in Tripoli and calls for immediate deescalation by all sides.

US State Department's spokesman, Ned Price, added in a statement on Monday that the vast majority of Libyans seek to choose their leadership peacefully through elections.

7 bodies exhumed from new mass grave in Tarhuna

The General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced that 7 unidentified bodies had been recovered from a garbage collection site in Tarhuna.

The Authority discovered, on Sunday, a new mass grave left by the Al-Kani militia of warlord Khalifa Haftar, and postponed the excavation operations until Monday.

Humanitarian appeals to end siege by Haftar's militia on Buhadi village, south of Sirte

A number of residents of the village of Buhadi, located 30 kilometers south of the city of Sirte, appealed to the competent authorities and human rights organizations inside and outside Libya, calling for lifting of the siege imposed by an armed militia affiliated with Haftar's forces on the village.

Activists from the village - most of its residents belong to the Qadhadhfa tribe - said that the people of the village have been suffering from a continuous siege for two days, imposed by Tariq bin Ziyad Brigade of Saddam, the son of Haftar.

Shakshak asks Dbeibah to handle overabundance of public employees

The Head of the Audit Bureau Khalid Shakshak called in a letter on Monday to the Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah for putting in place measures to handle the excess of employees within the public sector.

Shakshak urged for stopping the expansion of administrative bodies and giving them financial and managerial independency.
