Violent clashes broke out in Al-Khums city - 120 km to east of Tripoli - between a security force tasked by the Attorney General to arrest a fugitive and an armed group in support of the criminal.

At least 6 people were killed including 4 from the joint security room of Misrata, which was tasked to arrest the fugitive Nour Al-Deen Baba, who is accused of killing 7 people in a brawl related to a dispute over a piece of land in Al-Khums days ago.

Sources from the city said the pro-Baba armed group opened fire on the security force and caused deaths among the force's personnel, leading to clashes between the two sides. Later on, the security force controlled the area of clashes and arrested 14 gunmen, including the wanted criminal, Baba.

A dispute took place in Sooq Al-Khamis in Al-Khums city between two families after the killing of one man over a piece of land, and the residents said that Baba killed seven people from the family of the killer of his brother as an act of revenge, adding that the elders of the area intervened and stopped further killing.
