The member of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Mohammed Al-Raeid said what happened at the two HoR sessions of budget approval discussion were "very shameful", adding that delaying the endorsement of the budget was prompted by "narrow personal interests".

Al-Raied said on Facebook said the budget proposal included 34 billion dinars for salaries, 6 billion for mother and children's grant, 12 billion for fuel subsidies, and 20 billion for steering expenditures, adding that disapproving the budget harms the provision of services to Libyans.

"Development funds were very important for finishing projects that have been completed by 70% and for main roads' work across the country. I say that delaying the approval of budget shows instability and reflects badly on the economy or reforms of the economic sector as well as the general elections scheduled for December 24." He said.

He also indicated that the country should be divided into 12 districts, each two of which should form a financially-independent economic region with a budget as per the population and geographical location, adding that going on with this stream of actions would increase corruption and make government expenditure control difficult.

The HoR failed to approve the entire budget in two sessions on last Monday and Tuesday and only endorsed the payroll of public institutions that amount to 34 billion dinars.
