The Governor of the Central Bank, Naji Issa, has announced the reduction of commissions imposed on the use of bank cards through points of sale (PoS) to less than 1% as a maximum, without exception for any sector.
This decision came during a meeting held by the Governor on Sunday with the directors of commercial banks and directors of the relevant departments at the Central Bank, where the implementation of policies to regulate the sale of foreign currency, enhance electronic payment, and ensure the availability of liquidity, especially during the month of Ramadan, were reviewed.
It was also agreed to provide the cash advance feature by any bank through electronic points of sale, which gives citizens broader options to obtain liquidity easily.
The Governor stressed the need for banks to adhere to the standards and policies that ensure the protection of cash reserves and the stability of the value of the Libyan dinar, stressing that the expansion of digital services will contribute to achieving financial stability and enhancing financial inclusion in the country.
