The so-called “interim government” based in the east of Libya has denied the unification of the divided financial institutions of the country.

The government said on their official Facebook page on Tuesday that the reason for the delay of salaries for all sectors affiliated with the Ministry of Finance in Bayda is to complete administrative procedures related to duplication of salaries.

The government denied that the delay was related to the news claiming that the financial institutions in the country would be unified.

The news was first reported by Tripoli-based Director of Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Ismail, who claimed on a TV interview that the two rival governments in the east and west of the country agreed to unify the mechanism of payment of salaries to all Libyans and they will work on this by the end of this month.
