Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC) Ahmed Maiteeq on Wednesday discussed with the US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland the security and political situation in light of the recent developments in the country.

The meeting, which took place in Misurata city, focused on the United States' support for the political solution and the economic reform package.

The US has encouraged the Board of Directors of Libya's Central Bank to take positive steps to address the economic crisis, according to a statement by the media department of the Government of National Accord (GNA).

The GNA media department said that Maiteeq and the US ambassador affirmed that economic and political tracks are the way to support stability and avoid military escalation.

The meeting also touched upon ways to develop mutual relations in the interest of both countries.
