Minister of Economy and Trade Muhammad Al-Hawaij discussed Tuesday with the British Ambassador to Libya Nicholas Hopton, bilateral relations, as well as providing technical and advisory support in economic reforms and economic diversity programs.

The two parties agreed during a meeting held at the Ministry's HQ in Tripoli to open direct channels between British and Libyan companies and institutions, stressing the importance of activating the role of the joint Libyan-British Business Owners Council.

They also explored the possibility of amending the agreements signed in this regard, in line with the current developments in the world, especially in the field of economy, trade, and investment, in addition to drawing on the expertise of the UK to develop the work of Libyan banks.

Meanwhile, Al-Hawaij stressed the need for British companies to return to Libya, especially those working on development projects, as well as activating all stalled projects.
