The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced the commencement of partial production reduction at the Sharara oil field, citing force majeure conditions due to “sit-ins by the Fazan Movement Gathering.”

In a statement, the NOC urged all concerned parties to prioritize national interests and support the corporation's efforts to stabilize and increase production.

Previously, Bashir Sheikh, head of the Fazan Movement, denied responsibility for the closure of the Sharara oil field, attributing it to Saddam Khalifa Haftar. Sheikh stated that Saddam ordered the closure in response to an attempted arrest in Italy following an arrest warrant issued by the Spanish Attorney General.

Sheikh firmly rejected accusations linking the Fazan Movement to the field's closure, emphasizing their lack of involvement. He also distanced the movement from the Muslim Brotherhood, underscoring his opposition to military rule and support for a civil state.
