The Chairman of the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) Mustafa Sanallah assured residents of eastern region in Libya and Brega Oil and Gas Company that fuel supplies to their region will never cease.

In a video statement on Facebook, Sanallah said there are enough quantities of all types of fuel in eastern Libya and that kerosene is also sufficiently available in there despite the fact that its consumption in eastern and central Libya increased by 80% this year compared to last year, which is unjustifiable.

He also said that there are ongoing investigations into the consumption of kerosene in eastern Libya to know whether it is misused or smuggled or other reasons.

The parallel NOC in eastern Libya decided to appoint a management and board of Brega Company, which was condemned by the Tripoli-based NOC that considered it a desperate attempt by parallel bodies in the east to export oil illicitly.

Tripoli-based NOC is recognized by world organizations as the only legitimate body to keep Libyan oil under its oversight, while the parallel one is supported by the countries backing Khalifa Haftar, such as Egypt and UAE.

Relatedly, France, which supports Haftar, reiterated, through a statement by its embassy in Libya on Saturday, its backup for NOC in Tripoli as the only legitimate body to manage the Libyan oil production and exports.
