Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq, held talks with Malta’s Ambassador to Libya, Charles Saliba, on enhancing bilateral cooperation and expanding partnership opportunities in the fields of oil, gas, and energy.

During their meeting on Monday, the two sides discussed developments in the ongoing licensing round for exploration and the opportunities it offers, emphasizing the importance of leveraging the strong ties between Libya and Malta to open new avenues for cooperation and investment in the energy sector, according to a statement by the Ministry of Oil on its Facebook page.

Abdul-Sadiq affirmed that Libya is open and ready to attract foreign investments, particularly in light of the National Oil Corporation’s efforts to increase production capacity to two million barrels per day, which presents significant investment opportunities.

The minister also invited the Maltese embassy to coordinate with private sector companies in both Malta and Libya to organize a Libyan-Maltese economic forum as a practical platform for exchanging expertise and strengthening partnerships that serve the interests of both countries.
